November 8, 2018 (Edmonton) – "I’d like to congratulate Alberta Party MLA Karen McPherson on setting the lead for the government today amending Bill 21 to prevent health professionals who are guilty of sexual assault from regaining their licenses, and also for passing an amendment to have tribunals composed of members who are trained with trauma-informed practices ” said Alberta Party Leader Stephen Mandel.

"Karen’s advocacy and consultation with stakeholder groups are what informed her position on this and we think it’s important to recognize the work Karen has done to advocate for and make meaningful changes to protect people from convicted abusers.”

“Ultimately this bill will help protect vulnerable populations from abuse by repeat offenders, and that is a win for Albertans,” concluded Mandel.
