The Alberta Party calls on the UCP Government to work with Ottawa and help ensure Alberta farmers have sufficient supports.

Industry groups from every agriculture sector have expressed dismay about the reluctance of the UCP Government to work with Ottawa to have Alberta remain a partner in the AgriStability program.

Acting Leader Jacquie Fenske:

”The UCP government has decided Alberta farmers don’t deserve federal support. Premier Kenney has decided to leave $170 million in federal funds on the table. Alberta must always negotiate with Ottawa to ensure a fair deal, but farmers need AgriStability and shouldn’t be held hostage to political interests.

“Agriculture is a precarious industry, and farmers are always one storm away from disaster. Alberta’s farmers need the premier to stop playing politics and work with Ottawa and enter the AgriStability program.”
