The Alberta Party is happy to see Alberta’s three stage reopening plan.

For over a year, the Alberta Party has been calling on the UCP Government to announce a clear path to a reopened Alberta. Today’s announcement is welcome and presents a clear, achievable plan to a normal summer. It is exciting to see the progress of vaccines and Albertans should be proud of the accomplishment. While more Albertans need to be vaccinated, current trends indicate that everyone is stepping up.

There are still some concerns, such as lingering vaccine hesitancy and unclear guidelines for regions where vaccine uptake has significantly lagged the rest of the province. More can be done to provide easier access, such as mobile pop-up clinics and better education.

Albertans have been through a lot since the first cases of COVID-19 appeared in the province. We have shown strength and resiliency. This three stage plan is a reflection of that.
