Just weeks — if not days —before a potential election call, Elections Alberta has deemed that six of our Alberta Party candidates, including our leader Stephen Mandel, and their volunteer CFOs aren't eligible to run for five years because of paperwork issues. 

I'm deeply troubled by the fact this information wasn't raised months ago, when the alleged breaches occurred. I'm also concerned that if indeed mistakes were made following this brand new legislation, the sanctions are beyond heavy-handed and anti-democratic. 

The good news: all of the affected candidates are appealing this decision to the courts.
