Vice President - Calgary Edgemont

Please allow me to introduce myself. My name is Wayne Jackson and I am the Constituency Association (CA) Vice President and Secretary. I have been a member of the CA since 2015 and a CA Board Member since then. In the fall of 2021, I was elected to the party's Provincial Board where I proudly serve party members to increase awareness of and bring grass roots governance to the party.

In my personal life, I am a husband, father, Engineer and entrepreneur. Ranchlands has been my home since 2004, except for five years I spent working in Scotland, where I met my wife (who is from Germany). Together, we welcomed my first child into the family in Scotland in 2010. We moved back to Canada in 2012, in time to witness the election of Alison Redford, which proved to be the last election win for the PC party. My youngest daughter joined our family in 2014 and helped me campaign for Beth Barberree in the 2015 election. My nephew and sister in law also live with us in Ranchlands and the children attend the German Bilingual program at Bowcroft Elementary in Bowness and HD Cartwright in Dalhousie, all within the CBE.

The first half of my career was spent with the oil and gas industry across Alberta and in the North Sea. I was heavily involved in Operations and Development and also worked as a consultant and entrepreneur, specializing in Safety Management, Operational Efficiency and workflow automation. The oil crash in late 2014 that led to the fall of the PCs, led to the fall of my career in the industry, as well. It also led to a long transition back to explore my roots in northern Alberta agriculture. I combined my agriculture understanding with my engineering, operational and business skills to support the development of the circular economy, value added agriculture, and economic diversification through industrial hemp applications. I am currently working as the COO of a Calgary based botanical extract company, Endless Sky Inc with operations in Redvers Saskatchewan. There we extract oils from plants like cannabis, sea buckthorn and sour cherries. I am also co-founder of Upcyx, a startup company developing sustainable upcycled packaging materials such as high quality cardstock made from hemp fibre and recycled office paper, as well as biocomposite plastics for industrial and consumer applications.

It is my pleasure to serve on the Calgary-Edgemont CA Board. Our goal is to find the best candidate to represent this riding in the 2023 election. A candidate who can bring vision, compassion and a deep understanding of the challenges that face our province to Edmonton to be our voice. A candidate who understands that world class healthcare and education are investments in our future and that a bustling economy providing well paying jobs is the basis to securing that investment.

Please feel free to reach out to me at [email protected] to share your thoughts and to introduce yourself. We have only a short time until the next election window and we need our members across the CA to join us in growing the party membership through talking to friends and neighbours, asking them to join us and together raising awareness that this province is not governed under a two party system.
