Update from Acting Leader Jacquie Fenske

Hear Jacquie’s take on the news this week in Alberta.

Jacquie spent a little time on the road this week, visiting a bull sale close to home in Strathcona County and making the trip to Vegreville to receive her COVID-19 vaccination with her husband.

Jacquie is grateful for all the hardworking healthcare workers that have made it possible for Albertans to get vaccinated.

This Week in Alberta

Another large-scale buy-out was proposed this week, as Calgary-based Canadian Pacific Railway announced they are looking to acquire Kansas City Southern for $25B. Unlike the proposed Rogers takeover of Shaw, Canadian Pacific’s headquarters would remain in Calgary.

The Alberta Party has long advocated for a robust rail plan and are happy to see the private sector expand our trade infrastructure.

The war room, also known as the Canadian Energy Centre, is asking Albertans to place our broken trust in them as they implement an environmental, social and governance (ESG) plan.

The war room’s bad reputation, caused by their track record of severe incompetence, does not inspire Albertans, nor people abroad, to trust what they say.

The Alberta Party continues to call for the war room to be disbanded due to their incompetence and failed track record.

Unsurprisingly, the Supreme Court of Canada ruled that the federal carbon tax was constitutional.

Despite this likely outcome, the UCP has no backup plan and, instead, were just hoping that they would win.

Albertans could have had a made at home solution but are now stuck with a made in Ottawa solution due to the UCP's failure. Acting Leader Jacquie Fenske made the following statement:

"Once again, Jason Kenney has fought and lost a political battle which accomplished nothing besides wasting time and taxpayer money. Whether it is Bigfoot or the Prime Minister, the UCP is more focused on theatrical opposition than on improving the lives of Albertans and caring for our environment. The Alberta Party has a plan that keeps the carbon tax money in Alberta and used for Albertans."

You can read the Alberta Party carbon plan here. Our environmental plan starts on Page 13.
