Alberta Party Leader Greg Clark issued the following statement in response to reports of a Wildrose/PC merger:
“What we are seeing today isn’t a merger but a hostile takeover. The stream of PC supporters who have been leaving will quickly become a flood as they come to understand it is no longer the party of Peter Lougheed but a return to what Peter Lougheed fought against.
Albertans reject polarized politics. Albertans know it is possible to look out for our neighbors AND balance a budget. We know it's possible to have efficient, effective public services AND balance a budget. We know it's possible to unapologetically defend minority rights AND balance a budget.
The Alberta Party will be a contender in the 2019 election and will run 87 candidates to ensure that Alberta has a smart, compassionate government that balances fiscal realities with the needs of all Albertans."
