I’ve frankly grown tired of the silent and looming Conservative government. Their policies have become so obscure, that at the Leader’s Forum when the Conservative candidate mentioned that they had, in fact, increased the royalties on oil, I was actively surprised and not sure if I should believe them. This is a perverse state of things, when I’m kept completely in the dark about the state of matters in my own province, and the desire of the Alberta Party to establish dialogue with the populace.
Beyond that, I appreciate the Alberta Party’s seeming unwillingness to adhere excessively to any particular social or economic ideology, which lends a flexibility to platforms rather than sticking to a cookie-cutter right- or left-wing code of conduct.
I can safely say that the horrible state of voting turnout in Alberta today is due largely to the feeling that Albertans have that nothing we do is going to change anything on a governmental state. To re-engage the public, the offer of actually starting dialogue that could actually wind up changing something the government does is thrilling. After 41 years of a government who does not care what it’s people think about what it’s doing, a change of this sort would be more than welcome in my humble opinion.
Keep up the good work, I look forward to the next election.

The past two years I dialogue with Canadian Veterans one a Union Member there desperate fear of the 4 Fema Camps in Southern Alberta

how we with many other Albertans fought off Americans and Russians apparently invading Canadian air space to save our oil for Albertans and Canadians and our passionate desire to build a pipeline over the mountains to the Pacific coast – We did it once before – our desire to build our own OPEC management to produce and sell our oil in Canada and our desperation to have a true Democracy with a Party that would sucessfully challenge an break the Conservative hold on Alberta and clean up many of our problems that are swept under the rug. Preventative Safety according to Culture,. Safety Starts with yourself.

These statements are made without prejudice to any parties whatsoever an are true based upon the best current accurate available information. Tks . PS you great

Alberta Party is a great mix of both seasoned and newer faces in politics. I believe they will bring about a drastic change with what the people actually want. I put my trust in them and am especially glad to see most of their party members have lived in their riding areas for large amounts of time! They are connected with the communities and it could be said that they are an “Average Joe” making a not so average change in the way our province is run!

I found out about the Alberta Party through a feature in the Sunday Reader on the Alberta Party describing this new party going out of its way to seek Albertans’ opinions through kitchen table conversations called Big Listens. I did some more research on the party and found that their vision for a better, more prosperous province through education, health care, economic diversification, and democratic renewal.

The voter turnout rate in Alberta is the lowest in Canada and I believe that apathy from one party rule and a phenomenon of “Their all crooks anyhow” is prevalent in Alberta but the Alberta Party is a breath of fresh air to combat those two sentiments. That’s why, April 23rd, I am going to be voting for the Alberta Party and for a fresh, renewed Alberta.

Last night, we had a visit from Innisfail/Sylvan Lake candidate Danielle Klooster and her Husband Theo regarding W.C.B. issues and the Alberta Party Platform. This is one intelligent Lady I must say. She listened intently to our concerns and made copius notes. I say let’s get behind this Lady and the Alberta Party. I have a feeling we will be glad we did. Nothing to lose and everything to gain. To Glen Taylor (Party Leader) You are lucky to have Danielle on board. Meant with sincerety. Yes, I joined the Party last night as did my Daughter and Son-in-Law

Like many I was introduced to the Alberta Party while working on the Nenshi Campaign. Finaly a party not based on an ideological point of view, not bought and paid for by special interest or committed to a model of power at all costs. Here I have found some ot the most committed positibve people and thus for the first time in nearly a decade… A political home.

As a long time Alberta resident and one-time civil servant, I have observed with interest the progression of politics in this province both how it has affected me personally and how government works from the inside. We may very well be geared for a change in government. I am dismayed that the choice seems to have narrowed itself – too soon – between conservative to ultra-conservative. There are so many opportunitiies for improvement in our government, but I am convinced it cannot happen with more of the same. I have chosen the Alberta party as a positive alternative, as it looks to the energy, vitality, and fresh ideas of the next generation.

About me

I am a husband to a wonderful and understanding wife and we have three beautiful girls. I graduated from the University of Alberta where I studied Anthropology and specialized in the field of Archaeology. I am currently employed as a Surety Broker. I volunteer in my community as Scout Leader, Condo Board President, various Parent Advisory Councils for my daughters schools, past President of the U of A Star Trek Club, past Team Leader with U of A Campus Safe Walk program and with my family’s church.

I was born in Alberta and raised in Leduc where I played Baseball, Soccer, Broom Ball, Football and wrestling. I am a fan of science fiction and I enjoy getting together with friends.

My wife and I are strong believers of getting involved with our community to make a better world for our children. It is our job as parents and members of our community to get involved, push for change and lead by example for the next generation. For me, getting involved in politics was a way to help change the way we are governed and to provide a better tomorrow for the next generation.

My political background

My political history started on the federal level when I joined the Board of Directors of the Canadian Alliance Party Southeast Riding. After the merger of the PC Party and the Canadian Alliance Party into the Conservative Party of Canada, I was elected as a director to the newly formed riding of Edmonton Mill Woods Beaumont. During my time there I served as Interim President and Vice President and was one of the first elected delegates to the first CPC Convention in Montreal.

After leaving Federal Politics in 2005, I helped found the Alberta Alliance Party Constituency associations for both Edmonton Ellerslie and Edmonton Mill Woods in 2006. I served as president of the Alberta Alliance Party Edmonton Region from 2007 until the merger with Wildrose Party in 2008.

During the 2008 Provincial Election, I was promoted Election Organizer for the Wildrose Alliance for the Edmonton and surrounding areas after the original organizer quit to work on Link Byfield’s campaign. During the election I ran as a candidate in the riding of Edmonton Mill Woods, organized and helped all the candidates in my area. After the election I was given the role of Northern Zone Director for the Wildrose Alliance Party.

I left the Wildrose Alliance Party in 2009 and joined the Alberta Party Board of Directors. I served as Interim Party President, Edmonton Regional Director and later on as Party Policy Chair. I stepped down from the Board of Directors in September 2010 to spend more time with my family and I helped found the Alberta Party Edmonton Will Woods Constituency Association on December 13, 2010.

Why I am excited to be involved in the Alberta Party

I first met the Alberta Party at the Alberta Alliance Party Fall Convention in 2007. After the 2008 Wildrose Alliance AGM, I was approached by former members of the WRP who had left to join the Alberta Party. When I joined the Alberta Party Board of Directors in 2009 I was amazed by how open the party really was and that they believed in doing things for Albertans now rather than just making promises to do things better when or if they form government. I knew this was the party for me and that there was a lot of work to do to get this party on track. By June 2009 the Alberta Party had shifted from a party trying to merge like-minded parties together to one serious about forming government. Over the next few months we gained new members like Edwin Erickson of the Alberta Progress Group and former Green Party Members that brought new energy into the Alberta Party. In February 2010, members of the Renew Alberta organization joined forces with the Alberta Party and gave us a great push forward. During my time on the Board of Directors for the Alberta Party we had the most diverse group of people from all walks of life, from university students to our founding member of the party, and a great balance between rural and urban areas. In 2010, we elected a new leader, established the Big Listen, created one of the most innovative Policy Conferences I have ever seen and created a record number of Constituency Associations in December.

Unlike other political parties that I have been a part of, the energy and excitement of doing politics differently in Alberta Party is a great feeling. It is the people in the Alberta Party, from all walks of life, taking the time to build a great party that motivates me. To see where this party came from and where it is now is just amazing and I look forward to helping the Alberta Party grow.

How I’m involved

I am currently the President of the Alberta Party Edmonton Mill Woods CA. During my time with the Alberta Party, I have hosted a Big Listen, served as Interim Party Leader, Former Policy Chair, and was on the 2009/2010 Leadership Race Committee. I have also presented policy recommendations on Leadership Campaign Disclosure to the Standing Committee on Public Safety and Services, and helped establish the party infrastructure in 2009 and early 2010. I attended the 2010 Policy Convention online and supported Chima Nkemdirim at the Intervivos debate with Danielle Smith in Edmonton (Fall 2010).

I attended the 2nd Birthday Party of the new Alberta Party when all this came together. It is with great pride to say I am impressed with the direction and growth of the Alberta Party over the past 3 years.

I joined the Alberta Party because they seem to be the only party to be trying to actually listen to Albertans. Instead of making policy and bouncing it off Albertans, the Alberta Party asked Albertans what they want, found a consensus and developed their polices from that. To me that is the essence of democracy.
