Alberta Party statement on MLA Karen McPherson joining the Alberta Party

The Alberta Party is pleased to welcome MLA Karen McPherson into the Alberta Party Caucus.
Ms. McPhersons’ concerns about the polarization of Alberta politics and the missing middle being represented in Alberta match with Alberta Party values.
Together, Ms. McPherson and Greg Clark will form a caucus designed to present a vision for Alberta based on centric, pragmatic values: fiscal accountability, strong and effective delivery of key services, the protection of the disadvantaged in our society, and the strong commitment to building Alberta’s economy.
The Alberta Party has a policy of supporting principled floor crossing that was passed in spring of 2016. We appreciate that MLA McPherson took the time to consult her constituents before making a decision to approach our leadership.
Ms. McPherson will continue to hold constituent open houses, meet and greets throughout her riding and other events to open lines of communication with constituents.
“The Alberta Party has seen a tremendous influx of members from diverse backgrounds including former MLAs, volunteers, and members from across all parties since Jason Kenney’s victory was imminent. There is a place for centrist, pragmatic, common ground citizens in Alberta; the Alberta Party is that brand of politics,” said Alberta Party President Pat Cochrane.
“Ms. McPherson will add a strong voice to the work that our Leader Greg Clark has been doing in the Legislature. We look forward to her contributing her ideas, leadership, and passion in representing her constituents in the Legislature,” continued Cochrane.
