Leadership Race 2013
Posted on by Richard Einarson
It's been nearly a year since we've had a leader to fly our colourful blue, yellow and green flag around the province and spread the word about the best idea to hit Alberta politics in a long time. We are happy to announce that the Alberta Party is about to step onto the public stage again with the launch of a new leadership race.
A new leader will put a public face to this exceptional idea... a party that puts regular Albertans into the decision-making of government... that looks forward, with a positive vision, to revealing the promise that this great province holds... a party that values good ideas wherever they come from, and puts the long term interests of Alberta ahead of short-term political gain.
Our leadership race will also be the first in Alberta where leadership candidates are legally required to track and disclose major donors under the newly amended Election Finances and Contributions Disclosure Act. This is a first that we welcome and are proud of since transparency has always been a cornerstone of our party. In fact, the new legal requirements are actually very similar to the financial disclosure requirements we voluntarily placed on candidates in our last leadership race!
The Leadership vote will coincide with our annual general meeting on Sept. 21, 2013, in Edmonton. Further details will be posted on our website in the upcoming weeks. As candidates step forward we will share their information with you here as well. Let the race begin!
