Danielle Klooster is an Albertan, having grown up in Edmonton and then living in several Alberta communities. She moved to Red Deer in 1997 and settled in Penhold in 2001. She is married and has three grown children, one teenage step-daughter and three grandchildren.
As a community leader, Danielle has worked with groups with such diverse issues as restorative justice, community crime prevention, high-risk youth, homelessness and food banks. She served four years as president of the board of directors for The Champions Centre Inc., a national charity that provides permanent supportive housing for men at risk of homelessness.
Danielle worked for several years in community development for the Town of Penhold, and in 2007 was successfully elected to Town Council.
Danielle’s diverse background drew her to the Red Deer Chamber of Commerce in 2008, where she manages Policy, Advocacy and Communications. In that role, she developed an appreciation for, and interest in, business, entrepreneurship and economic development.
After attending two Alberta Party Big Listens, she became a member. Observing the growing disengagement and discontent amongst Albertans and the disconnect between the government and the people, Danielle was motivated to step out and work with the Alberta Party to reinvigorate democracy.
Danielle maintains that a good sense of humour may be the number one necessity for mental and physical well-‐being for all people, and hopes to bring this and all her values with her into provincial representation.
