CALGARY, AB - November 11, 2015 - Alberta Party Leader Greg Clark issued the following statement on the occasion of Remembrance Day:
“Today is a day in which all Canadians gather to remember the sacrifices made by the men and women who have given their lives serving their country. By knowing our history, by remembering, we can better understand who we are today, how our freedom was earned, and we can honour the sacrifices made by so many, past and present, to preserve that freedom.
Today I think about those who served and those who made the ultimate sacrifice in the two World Wars and the Korean War. And I think about Canada’s tremendous contribution to peacekeeping and humanitarian missions in places like Somalia, Rwanda, the former Yugoslavia and Haiti. And I think about the 159 Canadians killed in Afghanistan, those who served and those who are still suffering the physical and mental scars of conflict.
Our nation owes each of you a debt that cannot be fully repaid. We promise to remember, and to honour your contribution on this sacred day.
Lest we forget.”
