Clark pleased to see changes to MLA living allowance

Posted on March 02, 2016 by Meagan Wade

EDMONTON, AB - March 1, 2016 - MLAs will now be required to claim actual living expenses after the Member Services Committee approved Alberta Party Leader Greg Clark’s proposed changes.

“I’m glad to see the committee adopt my suggestion to require MLAs to claim ‘up to’ the maximum allowable rather than claiming the maximum amount despite actual costs,” said Clark. “This will not only save taxpayers’ money, it shows MLAs are leading by example in difficult times.”

“This is one of the first issues I raised when I first became an MLA. Although it’s taken some time, it’s good to finally see the changes approved.

“I will continue to look for ways to operate government more efficiently and effectively and I hope all MLAs, and all Alberta public servants, do the same.”
