Clark announces plans to dig Glenmore Diversion Tunnel - himself

Posted on April 01, 2015 by Greg Clark

Cites Alberta’s entrepreneurial spirit as motivation to begin project by hand

Alberta Party Leader Greg Clark was joined by his family and neighbours this morning to begin work on the Glenmore Diversion Tunnel. Citing a lack of commitment from the PCs on flood mitigation along the Elbow River, Clark answered questions from a group of curious and confused journalists as he vigorously stabbed his spade into the ground.

“Alberta simply cannot afford another flood like we saw in 2013.” said Clark. “Unfortunately, the PCs are unable to commit to the two diversion projects we know are needed to protect Downtown Calgary and the river communities.”

“That’s why we got the gang together, grabbed some shovels and just starting digging.”

When asked for details about the amount of progress he expects to make Clark replied:

“I tell my girls that if we can make a pile as tall as Daddy, we can stop for food and water. I keep them motivated by reminding them that Bugs Bunny lives somewhere down there. And then I realize they don’t even know Bugs Bunny. But that’s crazy, right? Everybody knows who Bugs Bunny is!”
