Alberta Party President to run in Edmonton-Whitemud
September 24, 2014
Edmonton - The Alberta Party is thrilled to announce that its president, Will Munsey, has accepted the party's nomination to run in the Edmonton-Whitemud constituency when the provincial by-election is called.
As head of the provincial board for the past two years, Will has dedicated himself to upholding the party’s fundamental principles, including fiscal prudence, social responsibility, inclusiveness and respect for diversity. He is passionate about bringing an openness and high ethical standard into the legislature.
The Alberta Party believes it is the duty of MLAs to represent their constituents first, and Will has committed himself to serving the people of Edmonton-Whitemud. When the writ is dropped, he will be stepping down as party president.
With party Leader Greg Clark, running in Calgary-Elbow and now Will Munsey’s nomination in Edmonton-Whitemud, the Alberta Party is putting forward its two most senior members for voters’ consideration.
Once Albertans see that Alberta Party core values are their values, we are confident their choice will be clear.
Bio: Will Munsey
Alberta Party Candidate
Edmonton-Whitemud by-election 2014
William Munsey is the Alberta Party candidate in the 2014 provincial by-election in Edmonton-Whitemud. He was born and raised in Edmonton, and spent most of his early years in Edmonton and northern Alberta. However, he has considerable overseas experience. Having lived in East Asia for 15 years, he is fluent in Japanese and understands the markets Alberta is now trying to access.
Will joined the Alberta Party in the summer of 2009 when there were fewer than 20 members. He served as party president beginning in 2012 until stepping down to contest the by-election.
Will believes government’s role is to ensure these basics that make Alberta such a wonderful place to live: an amazing public education, a high standard of public health care, other essential services such as safeguarding the equality and rights of individuals, protecting the environment, and the efficient, ethical and transparent use of public money.
He works full time for CN Rail as a locomotive engineer, yet holds a master’s degree in Japanese and a bachelor’s degree in education. Will is a family man who volunteers his time with minor hockey and the local Communities in Bloom. When he was younger, he bicycled around the globe, but there’s little time for hobbies these days.
Born: April 16, 1961, in Edmonton.
Raised: In the Bonnie Doon area of Edmonton.
Education: Bachelor of education (English/Social Studies); master’s in Japanese.
Current employer: CN Rail as a locomotive engineer.
