Alberta Floods 2013
June 22, 2013
EDMONTON – The Alberta Party wishes to express its heartfelt concern for all Albertans affected by the catastrophic flooding in southern and central Alberta. We are especially saddened by the loss of life, and our condolences and thoughts go out to the loved ones of the three people who perished in the Highwood River near High River, Alberta.
We commiserate with the thousands of people who have been displaced by the disaster and whose property has been damaged. We are also compelled to recognize the amazing work of all emergency responders, officials, media, volunteers and citizens who, even while faced with concern for their own homes and families, have been working tirelessly day and night to keep people safe.
"Disasters like these remind us of what is most important: our families, our friends and our communities," said party president Will Munsey. "We are so proud to see the intrepid spirits of Albertans that have emerged during this crisis to open their hearts and homes to those in need. Let's all continue to pull together during the cleanup and rebuilding!"
We are keeping our hopes high for all communities downstream that still face a flood threat. Stay safe!
